I don’t do enough updating, let’s face facts. It’s the heartbreaker reality. It’s just that, when I’ve got spare time to sit down and write one of these updates, I would really rather be spending that time on the project itself. It is a passion project in my spare time, after all. You know, like all of us folks writing these fantasy heartbreakers. Every leisure hour spent on a blog post is an hour not spent on the actual project!
Anyhoozoo, December 31, 2025 came and went with no fanfare or drama, and I missed my self-imposed deadline for a full alpha. Which doesn’t bother me a great deal, but kind of a bummer. Nonetheless, progress continues. I’ve printed the whole book out and I’m red-penning the whole thing now. So the work right now is analogue. It’s a different mindset and it’s a good idea to do once in a while to change perspectives. I recommend the same for your project. Periodically print it out and do some analogue editing. Other aspects of the text often jump out to me in comparison to digital.
When I get to the end, I will go back to the digital files and make the edits I’ve written out, and at that point I’m probably calling it Alpha. I’m not going to set another artificial deadline that doesn’t get met, but I will just say it’s coming. Soon.
There isn’t really much else to say. I have been editing. Nothing end users can see, but it’s coming.
